Maybelline Color Show - nail polish review

Today I'll be talking about a nail polish that came with the Deauty Box of December. It's the Maybelline Color Show in 'Pink Lady'. It's a pale pink which is very neutral. So it was perfect for me as it is also appropriate for work.

What Maybelline says about this product:

Chip Free Nail Color, Straight from the Shows
The Official Nail Color of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York
Long lasting nail polish

Why You'll Love It

No chip color nail laquer straight from the shows. Easy-flow brush. Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene free.

For Best Results

First apply a clear base coat to prevent your nails from yellowing and to help your nail color last longer. With one sweep, paint the first line of nail polish up the center of your nail starting from the base to the tip. For the cleanest look, be sure to leave a small space at the base of the nail. Then apply nail color to the rest of the nail.

My experience:

First I used a clear base coat to protect my nails and then started with the first coat of nail polish. I found it to be too thin, not much color and strokes were visible. Luckily it did dry pretty fast, so then I put on the second coat. After the second coat it looked better but the color still wasn't as it should be. Then I put on a third coat and below is the result:

The brush made the application easy and smooth, but I still needed at least 3 strokes to paint the nail.
The color is very light and did not cover enough, I had to put on 3 coats before it looked decent. BUT it was very shiny and I did not use a top coat! :-)

My nails did not chip for an entire week! So I was actually very surprised! It's the first time that my nails didn't chip after 2 days. Usually they chip after 2 days, but this one didn't! After one week I started to notice some cracks in the nail polish and a little over a week it started to chip a little bit from the sides.

So after all, I think this is a very good nail polish as it really doesn't chip!
I think that if I use a slightly darker color, that 2 coats will be sufficient.

Have you tried this nail polish? What was your experience?

Content of the January Deauty Box!! :-)

So here I am again! I have been a bit busy lately so I didn't have a lot time to review products or to write on my blog. I do have same drafts that I need to finish, but that will happen sooner or later ;-).
Today I'll be revealing the content of the January Deauty Box.

content is as following:

Plante System - Lip Balm - full size (€6.50)
Narciso Rodriguez - 'For Her' Eau De Parfum - sample 4ml
Rock Beauty London - Eyerock Liner Classic - full size (€5.99)
JM - Nail Polish - ful size (€10.95)
Avril - Eye Shadow Duo - full size (€2.30)
+ coupon for 25% discount on Jean Marin nail polish.

Honestly... I am slightly disappointed for the first time.... :-(
When I opened the box and looked inside, I thought to myself: "What? That's all?"
It just didn't seem like it was worth the money, because the products were all so small in size.
After reading the note and examining the products, the box did seem all right and worth the price as there are 4 full size products inside it.

I have been wanting to try eyeliner stickers, but wasn't really willing to pay for it, so the Eyerock Liner in the box is something that I will definitely try out. (I think you can understand why I didn't want to spend the money on them, as they are €5.99)

The rest of the box doesn't seem so much of a 'discovery', but nail polish, lip balm, eye shadow and perfume are always welcome!
